Ringen And Decker Reach 1,000-Point Milestone, Men's Basketball Falls To Oneonta, 89-73

ONEONTA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior guards Justin Ringen and John Decker each scored their 1,000th point as a Knight, but the team fell to host Oneonta in the State University of New York Athletic Conference, 89-73, on Tuesday night.

Ringen finished with a team-high 26 points while Decker scored 12. Senior guard Jack Eisenberg netted a season-high 18 points, including 16 in the second half, while sophomore guard CJ Burke dished out a squad-best four assists. 

Oneonta drained five of its first six three-pointers, building a 27-10 lead over the first 11:04. At the 6:50 mark, Ringen made his first basket to push him over the 1,000-point threshold. Decker passed the milestone 3:55 later on a driving layup, making it 38-19 with 2:55 to go in the first half.

The Red Dragons took their largest lead of the game on a bucket with 31 seconds left in the half, making it 42-19, but junior guard Kevin Crockett hit a three in the final seconds to make the halftime score 42-22.

Eisenberg scored 12 points in the first 6:09 of the second half to propel Geneseo to an 18-9 run, cutting the lead to 51-40 with 13:51 remaining. Oneonta responded with a 13-5 run to extend its lead back to 64-45 with 10:37 to go.

With 5:08 left, Ringen completed a three-point play to draw the Knights back to within 11 points, 72-61, but it was as close as the visitors would draw.The Red Dragons responded with a 9-0 run to regain a 20-point lead, making it 81-61 with 3:10 left. First-year guard Terrance Nichols and sophomore forward Sean Avery each netted baskets in the final minute, but it wasn't enough as Geneseo's season came to an end. 

Reaching the SUNYAC Tournament for the sixth-consecutive season, the Knights finished their season with a 14-12 mark.
