Box Score GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo sophomore forward Conlan Keenan scored two goals and added an assist to lead the No. 5/6 Knights to a 5-2 win over visiting Buffalo State, Friday, in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener for both teams.
- HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo (3-0-0, 1-0-0 SUNYAC) opened a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game. Keenan fed sophomore forward Andrew Romano in the high slot for a one-timer at the 4:28 mark that was the first of three power-play conversions on the evening.
- Just over five minutes later, Keenan took a feed from sophomore forward David Szmyd in the right slot and whipped around to score on a wrist shot at 9:54.
- Buffalo State (1-1-0, 0-1-0 SUNYAC) got one back with 5:53 left in the period, after first-year forward Reid Bibb deflected a shot inside the right post to convert a Bengals' power play attempt.
- The Knights forged a three-goal lead with two unanswered power-play tallies in the second period. Keenan scored from close range on a rebound with under eight minutes on the clock before junior forward Arthur Gordon stuffed a rebound between Buffalo State first-year goalie Connor Minch's legs with 1:50 left in the period.
- The Bengals pulled within two on a goal by sophomore forward Hugo Petit from the left face-off circle with under five minutes left in regulation, but Geneseo first-year Carson Kelley scored off a Geneseo face-off win with 26 seconds left in regulation to seal the victory.
