Box Score

OSWEGO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior guard Justin Ringen scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but it was host Oswego using a big second-half run to defeat the Knights, 75-59, in the quarterfinals of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Basketball Tournament, Tuesday.

Trailing, 37-31, with 19:18 on the second-half clock, Oswego (19-7) scored 21-unanswered points to break open the game, 52-37, with 11:14 remaining.

Geneseo sophomore guard Kevin Crockett hit a pair of free throws at 11:05 to halt the run and start a 12-2 Knights' spurt that included a pair of three-pointers by junior guard Jonathan Cohen to pull the visitors within five, 54-49, with 7:58 remaining.

However, after being held to three points in the first half, Oswego junior guard Brian Sortino scored 20 of his game-high 23 points in the final 14 minutes of regulation as the Lakers led by as many as 16 points down the stretch to put the game out of reach.

The loss marked the second-straight season Oswego knocked the Knights out of the tournament after the third-seeded Lakers also upset second-seeded Geneseo, 72-61, in the 2015 playoffs.

Fourth-seeded Oswego advances to Friday's semifinals to take on host and top-seeded Plattsburgh. The fifth-seeded Knights finish their season with a 17-9 record.
