Box Score OSWEGO, N.Y. - SUNY Genseo junior guard Justin Ringen scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds while junior guard John Decker added 12 points and seven rebounds, but it was host Oswego defeating the Knights, 75-67, Tuesday night in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's basketball.
Trailing, 13-6, at 13:28 of the first half, a pair of free throws by sophomore guard Kevin Crockett finished a 16-9 run by the Knights that tied the game, 22-22, with 7:20 on the clock. The lead bounced back and forth until a corner jumper by junior guard Jonathan Cohen staked the visitors to a 30-29 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Held scoreless in the first half, Decker scored five points in the first two minutes of the second half to give Geneseo its largest lead of the game, 37-31. However, it was the Lakers responding with a 20-5 outburst to take a 51-42 lead with 10:10 left in regulation.
A Cohen three-pointer pulled the Knights back within six, but Oswego used a decisive 16-5 run to build a 67-51 lead at 3:52 that proved insurmountable.
Geneseo was held under 70 points for only the fourth time this season, while the seven three-point field goals made tied the second-lowest total of the season.
The Knights close out the regular season later this week, hosting Potsdam on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Plattsburgh on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
