Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Stephen Collins and first-year Zach Lynes each tallied a goal, but it was host Buffalo State scoring the overtime game-winner 1:37 to earn a 3-2 victory in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's ice hockey, Friday.
Following a Geneseo tripping penalty 1:24 into overtime, Jake Rosen scored the deciding tally 13 seconds later on a rebounded shot from close range as Buffalo State earned the season sweep of the Knights after also earning a 7-4 victory on the road (Feb. 20).
After a scoreless first period, Lynes capitalized on a defensive zone turnover by the Bengals to put Geneseo on the board, 1-0, with18:09 left in the second period.
Buffalo State evened the score with a power-play tally by Mac Wood with 7:35 on the clock and took the lead with 2:01 remaining on a goal by Cory Gurski as the Knights headed to the final period trailing by one.
Collins evened the score on a Bengals' defensive turnover with 16:02 remaining to account for the only tally of the third period and set up the decisive third period.
Geneseo junior goalie Matt Leon (3-1-1) was credited with 28 saves to take his first loss of the season.
The Knights return on Saturday to host Fredonia at 7:00 p.m. in their regular-season home finale.
