GENESEO, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team finished 3-0 against its SUNYAC West Division opponents with a 9-0 defeat of Fredonia Wednesday. The win clinches the division's top seed for the Knights in next month's SUNYAC Championships.

First years Corinne Heitmann, Vanessa Lam-Tran, Sabrina Ferretti, Nina Lurie and Jennifer Buckhout all collected points in both singles and doubles. Heitmann teamed with sophomore Rachel Ollis for the win at number-one doubles, while the duos of Lam-Tran/Ferretti (number-two) and Lurie/Buckhout (number-three) captured their respective matches.

Senior Marylen Santos took the number-one singles, with Lam-Tran (number-two), Ferretti (number-three), Heitmann (number-four), Lurie (number-five) and Buckhout (number-six) also picking up singles points. Lurie and Buckhout prevailed in tight matches, each needing a tiebreak win to claim victory.

The singles win for Santos was the 108th over her four years, moving her into a tie for second in the Geneseo record books for total career wins. Her 51 singles victories ties her for fourth in career singles victories.

The Knights captured their 25th consecutive win against SUNYAC competition, dating back through the 2012 season. Since 2006, Geneseo has won 67 of 68 matches against conference foes.

Geneseo will compete this weekend at the Canton Classic, hosted by St. Lawrence. The competition will run on both Saturday and Sunday.
