Reitz graduated from Oberlin College in 2006 with a degree in geology and minored in history.  A member of the field hockey, women's basketball and women's lacrosse teams, she served as captain for all three during a standout senior year.

Also a two-time all-conference pick in lacrosse, she was named the John N. Sterns Scholar-Athlete Award winner prior to graduation.

She went on to add two master's degrees in structural geology and tectonic geomorphology from Columbia University and is currently working to finish her doctorate from Columbia.
