Men's Soccer Picks Up 2-1 Win Over Allegheny

GENESEO, NY: The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team came out on top over the Allegheny Gators this evening, winning 2-1 in regulation. The Knights now sit at 2-2-0 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Alfonso Vito kicked things off in the 34th minute with the team's first goal of the night. Owen Burke deflected a set piece from Sam Leone in the box and Vito had the final touch to send it to the back of the net.  
  • The Knights added a second goal in the 71st minute off a header from Aidan Lodie, with the assist from Ali Shabani and his free kick just outside the box.
  • Allegheny answered back five minutes later, cutting the lead to 2-1.
  • Max Crothall came up big in net with eight minutes left, making a diving save across the crease to keep the lead. The Knights maintained their composure and secured the 2-1 win over the Gators. 
QUICK FACTS:
  • Alfonso Vito and Ali Shabani each scored their first goals of the season against Allegheny.
  • Owen Burke sits on top of the team stats with three points after tallying an assist.
  • Max Crothall picked up his second win of the season, making three saves.
