TROY, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo men's cross country team split into two groups this weekend, with one squad winning the team title at the RPI Fairgrounds Showdown while another finished fourth at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan.
At the RPI Fairgrounds Showdown, the Knights won the 8k race with 24 points, topping RPI's 41. Collin Brown led Geneseo with a runner-up finish, crossing in 23:58.0. James Tette, Emerson Comer, Owen Murphy, and Thomas Blake followed in fifth through eighth, running 24:13.9, 24:14.4, 24:15.3, and 24:19.6 to put all five scorers inside the top eight. Mike Taranto and Jake Gaudette served as displacers, finishing sixth and seventh on the team in 24:39.6 and 25:03.5.
At the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, Geneseo placed fourth as a team with 139 points, behind Roberts Wesleyan, Edinboro, and Cortland State. Ian Zehnder paced the Knights in 12th place overall, finishing in 25:57.4. Milo Poerner, Logan Baker, Shane Fraser, and Henry Nilsen rounded out the scoring five, crossing in 26:14.8, 26:27.8, 26:29.8, and 26:40.8. Tyler Fischer and Ross Bush served as displacers, finishing in 26:46.5 and 26:47.1.
