Women's Soccer Ends In Draw Against Brockport

GENESEO, NY: The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team ended the night with a 2-2 tie after a tough battle against the Brockport Golden Eagles . The Knights move to 0-0-2 in in Empire 8 conference play and hold an overall record of 2-2-3. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Brockport took an early lead against the Knights, scoring seven minutes into the game. The Knights went on the attack, answering back with a goal of their own two minutes later. Lauren DeMura connected with Ella Yartym in the box to tie the game 1-1.
  • Yartym continued her crusade and gave the Knight lead in the 20th minute, scoring her second goal of the night with the assist from Maggie Zito, and sent the team into halftime with the 2-1 advantage.
  • The Golden Eagles went on to tie the game 2-2 in the 55th minute. Geneseo worked hard to take back their lead, with Emily McGee and Yartym narrowly missing shots in the final minutes of play, but the Knights remained in a stalemate with the Golden Eagles after 90 minutes of play.

  • Ella Yartym scored both goals for the Knights, totaling five this season.
  • Maggie Zito and Lauren DeMura each tallied their second assist of the year.
