GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team picked up a 7-0 sweep on the road at Alfred, improving to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in Empire 8 play.
The Knights swept the doubles point, winning all three flights. Natalie Pipes and JoAnn Catalano won 6-4 at first doubles, Samantha Rava and Rachel Molloy followed with a 6-3 win at second doubles, and Talia Wutz and Lauren Levatino closed out the point with a 6-2 win at third doubles.
Geneseo carried that momentum into singles, sweeping all six flights. Pipes won 6-4, 6-1 at first singles, and Rava followed with a 6-3, 6-0 win at second singles. Molloy won by retirement at third singles after taking the first set 6-2. Levatino was dominant at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-1, and Wutz posted an identical 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles. Catalano capped the sweep at sixth singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win.
The Knights have now won each of their first six matches this season, with five of them being a sweep. The Knights will return to action on Saturday, Sep. 19 at Utica.
