Flag Football Keeps Rolling, Defeats Hartwick 41-19

GENESEO, N.Y. -  The SUNY Geneseo flag football team won its seventh-straight game on Saturday, April 11, knocking off Hartwick by a score of 41-19 at College Stadium. The win improves Geneseo to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in Empire 8 action. The Knights honored its four senior players, Soleil Zgoda, Abigail Uhrich, Megan Howard, and Riley Griffin with a brief pre-game ceremony.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Following a defensive stop on the opening drive from the Hawks, the Knights wasted no time getting on the board as Ella Koopman found Natalia DiPalma for a 39-yard touchdown pass. On the ensuing drive, Caitlyn Schutte picked up a fourth-down sack, then Koopman found DiPalma open once again, this time for an 18-yard touchdown.
  • Geneseo's offense continued to be relentless in the first half, as Koopman threw two more touchdowns, one more to DiPalma to complete the first half hat trick, and the other to Corina Dunn. Geneseo carried a 27-7 lead into halftime.
  • The Knights began the second half with a 12-play 73-yard touchdown drive to extend the lead to 34-7. Koopman carried the ball into the endzone herself this time, then Megan Howard capped off the scoring for the day with a fourth-down rushing touchdown.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Koopman went 17-24 for 216 yards with four touchdowns through the air, while rushing for 148 yards and another touchdown.
  • DiPalma rushed 13 times for 73 yards, while adding three catches for 76 yards and three touchdowns. Dunn chipped in seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.
  • Emily McLouth led the defensive effort with 11 tackles and an interception.

Geneseo will return to College Stadium on Tuesday, April 14 at 6 p.m. against Villa Maria.
