Women's Basketball Earns Three All-Conference Nods

GENESEO, N.Y. - The Empire 8 announced its all-conference awards on Thursday afternoon, and the Knights had three student-athletes earn recognition. Grace Galgano picked up First-Team honors, Maggie McGrane landed on Second-Team, and Kristin Suydam rounded out the honors on Third-Team. Geneseo is coming off a semifinal win at top-seeded Nazareth, and will travel to Houghton on Saturday at 2 p.m. for the Empire 8 Championship Game.

Galgano led the Knights this season both offensively and on the boards, posting a team high 12.8 points per game and 6.8 rebounds. The Brewster, N.Y. native also shot 50 percent from the field on the year and 84 percent from the free throw line. Galgano's season was highlighted by 22 points in a win over RIT, as well as dominant performances in both playoff games so far this season with 18 points and nine rebounds against Sage, and 15 points and 13 rebounds against Nazareth.

McGrane was a staple of the Knights offense this season at point guard, averaging over 30 minutes per game while posting 9.5 points per game and a team high 152 assists, good enough for sixth all-time in program history. The Pearl River, N.Y. native has tallied a team-high 40 steals while shooting 37 percent from three. McGrane's season was highlighted by 26 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals in a win over Rochester, as well as 20-point performances in wins over Nazareth and St. John Fisher.

Suydam was dominant in the paint this season for Geneseo, averaging 10 points per game and 6.5 rebounds on 46 percent shooting from the field. The Sayville, N.Y. native also posted a team-high 36 blocks, and shot 35 percent from three. Suydam's season was highlighted by a double-double performance at St. John Fisher on 19 points and 10 rebounds as well as a season-high 13 rebounds in the first round win over Sage.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2025 Women's Basketball Tomorrow's Leaders Team. This team honors a student-athlete who has emerged as a leader not only on the field of play, but in the classroom and in the community. In addition, they "compete with honor and integrity" and have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen, and Eva Elliot earned that recognition for the Knights.
