GENESEO, NY: The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team picked up a 3-1 victory over the Keuka Wolves this evening, powered by a two-goal performance from Ella Yartym. With the win, the Knights improve to 3-1-2 in conference play and 5-3-3 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-
The Knights came out of the gate firing, with Ella Yartym putting Geneseo on the board just 55 seconds into the game. Kate Pinto made a move around the defense before finding Yartym along the crease, who tapped it home to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead.
-
Yartym struck again in the 10th minute, taking off on a breakaway and beating the defender before chipping the ball past the charging goalkeeper. With the offense rolling and the defense holding strong, Geneseo carried a 2-0 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
-
Keuka avoided the shutout with a goal in the 60th minute, but the Knights quickly regained control. After Madelyn Murphy's shot was stopped, Aicha Cisse pounced on the rebound and fired it back on net to restore Geneseo's two-goal advantage. The Knights held strong through the final whistle to secure the 3-1 victory and close out the night with a strong offensive performance.
