Greico Sets Program Record For Career Points As Field Hockey Tops Nazareth

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo field hockey team shut out Nazareth University 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon at College Stadium, and Ella Greico set a new program record for career points with 135 in the process, scoring twice. Geneseo improves to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in Empire 8 play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Geneseo scored in every quarter, starting 10 minutes into the game when Aubree Wenner finished a feed from Ava Harman to make it 1-0.
  • Greico doubled the lead late in the second quarter, scoring off a Harman assist at 24:53 to make it 2-0 heading into halftime.
  • Harman scored in the third quarter, converting a Kyra Giannelli assist at 35:57 to extend the lead to 3-0.
  • Greico capped the scoring in the fourth quarter with an unassisted goal at 56:20. The goal was her second of the game and gave her 135 career points, a new program record.
  • Geneseo controlled play from start to finish, out-shooting Nazareth 39-2 and holding a 22-0 edge in penalty corners. Nazareth did not record a shot on goal, and Bridget Schafer earned the shutout.

QUICK FACTS:

  • Greico finished with two goals and seven shots, five of them on goal. Greico surpassed Kayla DeAngelis' record of 134 points just one game after topping her record for career goals.
  • Harman added a goal and two assists for three points, while Wenner scored once and Giannelli had an assist.
  • Geneseo put 21 shots on goal, and Nazareth's goalkeeper made 17 saves.
