Women's Basketball Earns Seventh-Straight Empire 8 Win, 59-29 Over Alfred

ALFRED, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team remained unbeaten in conference play on Friday evening, traveling to Alfred and earning a convincing ___ win. The victory improves the Knights record to 13-3 overall and 7-0 in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Both offenses opened up the game with a slow start, as the Knights led 3-2 three minutes into the game. Audrey Hintz got the Knights going in the first quarter, scoring six unanswered points to improve the lead to 9-2. Grace Galgano went on to score the final five points of the quarter, including a last second layup to put Geneseo ahead 14-3 at the first break.
  • Maggie McGrane kept the momentum going by opening up the second quarter with a three, followed by a layup from Galgano to make it a 14 point lead. Hintz continued her strong play in the second, scoring four more points as the Knights led 30-10 at halftime.
  • Geneseo continued to dominate on the defensive end in the third quarter, only allowing four points from the Saxons. Kristin Suydam led the Knights in the quarter, scoring five of their 12 points. Jordyn Townes led Geneseo down the stretch by scoring seven points in the final 10 minutes, closing out the 59-29 win.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Hintz led the scoring effort with 12, while Suydam joined her in double digits at 10. Hintz, Suydam, and Sofia Vasselman all recorded seven rebounds.
  • McGrane played a solid game at point guard, dishing out eight assists.
  • The Knights defense limited Alfred to 20 percent shooting from the field and 4.5 percent shooting from three.
