Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls At SUNY Poly

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team couldn't pull out a win in a high scoring game at SUNY Poly on Friday evening, falling 103-90. The loss drops the Knights to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in Empire 8 action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Geneseo found its rhythm early, behind four points from both Robert Pericolosi and Justin Yearwood as they led 8-4. The Knights continued to put the offensive pressure on the Wildcats, leading by 10 points at 31-21 halfway through the opening half.
  • SUNY Poly was able to battle back closing out the first half, and ended up being able to take a five point lead with under two minutes to go. However, Pericolosi and Garelle knocked down a three and a layup, respectively, to tie the game at 49-49 going into the locker rooms.
  • The Wildcats came out of halftime and were able to stifle the Knights offense, holding them to just two points in the opening six minutes. Geneseo couldn't find a way to dig itself out of the early deficit, and ultimately fell 103-90.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Pericolosi led the team with 21 points, seven rebounds, and six steals, while Trevor Hofer chipped in 18 points on 5-5 shooting from deep.
  • Josh Garelle and Yearwood added double-digit scoring with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
