GENESEO, NY- The Geneseo Men's Ice Knights celebrated their senior nights with a 9-1 victory over the Nazareth Golden Flyers. The Knights now sit at 20-3-1 and 16-2-1 conference record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Melso struck first with a 5 on 3 power-play goal in the second period, taking a huge slap shot off a pass from Morgan and Luke Panchisin. Panchisin then picked up the loose change in front of the net after Filip Wibergs shot was deflected while on the powerplay; Fensterstock on the second assist.

  • Zach Purcell scored the team's fifth goal of the night at 11:10 after a great move around Nazareth's defender to chip it in. Wiberg and Melso were credited with the assists. Less than a minute later, Morgan found Fensterstock across the crease for the wide open goal; Jack McDonald with the second assist.

  • With 3:20 left in the second, Tommy Winn ripped one off the faceoff win by Wiberg and was deflected in by Purcell. Nicholas Kovacs tallied the team's eighth goal after Gabriel LaFlamme found him in the crease. Luke Munroe had the second assist, and the team headed into the third period with an 8-0 lead.

  • Nazareth found the back of the net halfway through the third, but the team didn't falter. Stefan Miklakos sealed the game with the final goal of the night at 4:37. Munroe and LaFlamme moved the puck up the ice with ease and found Miklakos who sent it right between the goalies' legs. The Knights ended the evening with a 9-1 victory over the Golden Flyers.
