GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday afternoon, defeating Keuka 76-19 with over 100 alumni and family in attendance. With the win, the Knights improve to 15-5 overall and 10-1 in Empire 8 play, while Keuka falls to 5-14 overall and 0-10 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo was dominant in the first quarter, jumping ahead 12-0 behind points scored from five different Knights. In addition to a solid offensive performance, the Knights were exceptional defensively, only allowing three points in the frame.
- The Knights continued to control the action, out-scoring Keuka 19-6 in the second quarter, to go into halftime up 35-9.
- Geneseo put up their strongest 10-minute stretch of the day in the third quarter, dropping 22 points while limiting the Wolves to just five. Kiley Snow and Kristin Suydam highlighted the quarter with a pair of three's from Snow and seven points and eight rebounds from Suydam.
- The Knights closed out the game strong, winning the final ten minutes by a score of 19-5 for a final score of 76-19.
QUICK FACTS:
- Snow led the team in scoring with 16, while Grace Galgano and Suydam chipped in 14 and 13, respectively.
- Suydam posted a double-double for the game, tallying a game-high 12 rebounds.Â
- Mackenzie Reigle recorded a game-high 10 assists, and entered Saturday's contest as the NCAA Division III leader in total assists and assists per game.
- The Knights held Keuka to just 19 points, setting a new program record for lowest opponent points in a game. They broke the record set in 2005, where Geneseo held SUNY Poly to just 22 points.
