Winn Nails OT Goal Against Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y.- THE SUNY Geneseo Men's Hockey Team completed the weekend sweep at Manhattanville with a 4-3 overtime win on Saturday afternoon. Tommy Winn netted the overtime winner to boost the Ice Knights to 16-2-1 on the season and 12-1-1 in UCHC play.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Manhattanville Valiants marked the first tally at 11:59 in the first. Ice Knights' captain Peter Morgan slotted a wrist shot past the goalie to tie the game at the 17:58 mark in the first.  

  • The second period saw goals from the Valiants at 1:48 and 11:52 to take a 3-1 lead. The Ice Knights moved the puck around the offensive zone before finding Luke Munroe, who crashed the net to score at 13:36. Cannon Green and Nicholas Kovacs with the assists on the play.  

  • Filip Wiberg notched the game-timing goal with just under a minute left to play on a redirection from Morgan's shot from deep to send the game to overtime.  

  • Geneseo capitalized on the momentum from the last-minute goal to take the game in overtime. Zach Purcell won the faceoff in Manhattanville's zone and found Tommy Winn who buried a wrist shot into the back of the net at 3:21 in overtime.  

QUICK FACTS:  

  • Geneseo won all four matchups against Manhattanville this season with an overall score of 18-10.  

  • The Ice Knights applied constant pressure throughout the game, tallying 50 total shots on goal.  

  • Senior goaltender Adam Harris started in net and recorded 24 saves on 27 shots on goal with a .889 save percentage.

The Ice Knights will take on the Brockport Golden Eagles (4-12-2) on Friday, February 7th, at 7 p.m. in Brockport.
