GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team defeated St. John Fisher, 6-1, in an Empire 8 contest on Friday afternoon. The Knights improve to 5-2 on the season and 4-1 in Empire 8 play.
The Knights earned the doubles point by sweeping all three matches, with
Samantha Rava and
Rachel Molloy leading the way at second doubles with a 6-0 sweep. At first and third doubles, the Knights picked up thrilling 6-4 victories behind the teams of
Natalie Pipes and
JoAnn Catalano, and
Talia Wutz and
Ashleigh Fredriksen, respectively.
Pipes and Rava kept the momentum going into singles play, as they both won by a score of 6-0 6-3 at first and second singles, respectively. Catalano added another point at fourth singles for Geneseo with a score of 6-3 6-2, while Wutz followed suit at sixth singles with a final score of 6-2 6-3.
Lauren Levatino rounded out the action with a 6-4 6-1 win at fifth singles.
The Knights will return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. for senior day against Alfred.
