Women's Soccer Defeats Keuka Behind Yartym's Hat Trick

KEUKA, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team traveled to face off against the Keuka College Wolves in Empire 8 action this afternoon. They were able to get the win in a dominant 5-0 performance, moving their record to 2-4-3 overall and 2-1-1 in Empire 8 action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Geneseo was putting pressure on Keuka early, and was able to convert a pair of goals from it. Ella Yartym scored 2 goals in the first half of action, her first at the 33-minute mark, assisted by Sarah Brunskill. Six minutes later at the 39-minute mark she was able to find the back of the net again.
  • Geneseo's defense held well in both halves, holding Keuka to only one shot in each half. This opened the offense up for the Knights, especially in the second half, where they scored another three times.
  • Addison Kensey scored the third goal for the Knights in the 73rd minute of the game on a great pass from Abby Foster. Seven minutes after that Yartym scored her third goal of the game and put the Knights up 4-0. The Knights put the game away at the 85th minute when Natalia Carlson scored to put the Knights up 5-0. They held Keuka without a shot in the final five minutes to take another conference victory.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Yartym lead the way with 3 goals in the game, putting her season total to 4.
  • Kensey and Carlson both scored their first goals of their college careers.
  • Natalie Budgar got her first full start of the season in net, saving her only shot faced.
