ONEONTA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team came up short at Hartwick on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Hawks 70-68. The defeat drops the Knights to 4-8 on the season and 1-2 in Empire 8 play, while Hartwick improves to 2-10 overall and 2-1 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights had control of the game early, leading for a majority of the opening 10 minutes. Josh Garelle led the charge early on for the offense, scoring eight of the team's 18 points as they led 18-12.
- The Hawks battled back before the end of the half, taking a brief lead at 25-24, however Geneseo rallied to close the half and led 33-27 going into the break.
- Robert Pericolosi opened the second half with a pair of offensive rebound put backs, but the Hawks caught fire offensively early on and took a 44-41 lead just over four minutes into play.
- Geneseo was able to regain the lead and went ahead 68-64 with three minutes left in the game behind a pair of free throws from Pericolosi. Unfortunately, the Knights couldn't add to the lead and ultimately fell, 70-68 after two free throws with a second left from the Hawks.
QUICK FACTS:
- The Knights had two players record a double-double, with Pericolosi posting a team high 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Sebastian Pacheco tallied 14 points and 10 assists.
- Colin Gentile and Garelle also reached double digit points with 14 and 12, respectively.

Geneseo will return to Schrader Gym to face Utica on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
