ALBANY, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team stayed hot in 2025, earning their third-straight double-digit victory by defeating Sage 79-48. The win improves the Knights record to 7-4 on the season and 2-0 in Empire 8 play, while the Gators fall to 2-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Grace Galgano and Kiley Snow notched the first six points of the game for the Knights as they held an early 6-3 advantage. Later in the quarter, Galgano drained a pair of threes to help Geneseo extend the lead to nine points, but a strong final minute from the Gators helped them close the deficit to just five points at the end of the first.
- The Knights came out hot to start the second quarter, with a pair of free throws from Maggie McGrane extending the lead to 10 points inside the first minute of action. Ellie Clearwater knocked down a three later in the quarter to make it a 16 point lead, then a jump shot from Mackenzie Reigle on the final possession made it a 20 point game heading to halftime.
- Geneseo quickly pushed the lead to 24 points in the third quarter, and held on to their advantage throughout the period as they led 56-31 going to the final 10 minutes.
- The Knights held off any attempts at a comeback from the Gators and went to win their third straight game with a score of 79-48.
