DELHI, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team took on the first Empire 8 competition of the season on Saturday afternoon, but the Knights were unable to pull out the win as they fell at Hartwick by a score of 6-3.
The team of
Natalie Pipes and
Samantha Rava got the Knights going in doubles with an 8-6 win at first doubles. Unfortunately, Geneseo was unable to earn an advantage heading into singles, falling at both second and third doubles by a score of 8-6.Â
Rava kept her momentum going into singles action, picking up a big 3-set win with a score of 6-1 3-6 6-1 at second singles. Freshman
Rachel Molloy earned her first win as a Knight with a 6-1 7-6 victory at fourth singles. Hartwick was able to close out the other singles matches in straight sets to earn the 6-3 win.
 Geneseo will return to the court on September 17 at Nazareth.
