Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team traveled to Nazareth on Tuesday, Sep. 17 and pulled out a convincing 8-1 victory over the Golden Flyers. The win marked the Knights first Empire 8 victory and moved their record to 1-1 on the season.
Geneseo jumped ahead 2-1 after doubles action, earning wins at second and third doubles.
Talia Wutz and
Rachel Molloy picked up a closely contested 8-6 victory at second doubles, while
Joann Catalano and
Katie Kujawa tallied the 8-4 win at third doubles.
In singles play, the Knights swept all six matches to earn the 8-1 win.
Natalie Pipes and
Samantha Rava cruised at first and second singles, respectively, only dropping a total of three games each. In third and sixth singles, both Wutz and Catalano won with a score of 6-2 6-4. Molloy and Kujawa found both battled to a third-set tiebreaker, and they each earned the win to help Geneseo sweep the singles. Molloy won with a score of 1-6 6-3 10-6, while Kujawa pulled out a 1-6 6-0 10-7 victory at fifth singles.
