Women's Soccer Tops Oswego 3-1

Oswego, NY- The SUNY Geneseo Women's Soccer team picked up a 3-1 victory on the road against Oswego on Wednesday afternoon. The Knights now hold a perfect 2-0 record through two games.   

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Junior forward Abby Foster found junior forward Abby Dunnigan to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead. This was Dunnigan's first goal of the season.  

  • The Oswego Lakers were able to equalize the score in the 29th minute and keep the game tied 1-1 going into the half.  

  • The Knights came out of the halftime locker room with the same intensity as they started the game. Not even two minutes into the second half, senior midfielder Lindsey Mathews found the back of the net on a solo effort.  

  • The Knight's defense remained resilient, and they battled to secure a 3-1 win against Oswego.  

QUICK FACTS:  

  • Senior goalkeeper Mollie Collins recorded a game-high nine saves on ten shots on goal throughout 90 minutes.  

  • Sophomore forward Grace Engle, sophomore midfielder Carly Chupick, and sophomore defender Katelyn Dana played the full 90 minutes on the field.  

  • After today's victory, Geneseo now holds a record of 30-5-6 against Oswego all-time.  

WHAT'S NEXT:  

The Knights will head to Rochester to take on the RIT Tigers (2-0) on Saturday, September 7th, at 3 pm.
