Women's Tennis Sweeps Utica, Earns Third-Straight Win

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team picked up its third-straight win on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Utica and earning the 9-0 win. The Knights improve to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in Empire 8 play.

Geneseo was dominant in doubles and singles action, only dropping a combined three games in doubles play and eight games in singles. Natalie Pipes and Samantha Rava teamed up at first doubles and earned an 8-1 win, while Katie Kujawa and Rachel Molloy played second doubles and tallied an 8-2 victory. The team of Joann Catalano and Elena DeRiso cruised to an 8-0 win at third doubles.

In singles play, both Pipes and Rava picked up 6-0 6-0 victories at first and second singles, respectively. Molloy battled to a 6-2 6-3 win at third singles, and Kujawa notched a 6-2 6-0 victory at fourth singles. Catalano put up a score of 6-0 6-1 in the win at fifth singles, while DeRiso capped off the sweep with a 6-0 6-0 victory at sixth singles.

Geneseo will return to the court for more Empire 8 action on Friday, October 4 at home against St. John Fisher.
