Men's Lacrosse Falls To Middlebury In NCAA Tournament

CARLISLE, P.A. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team had their season come to an end in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday afternoon, losing to Middlebury 17-10. The Knights finish the 2024 season with an overall record of 13-7 after reaching the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Geneseo tallied their first goal four minutes into the game, on an unassisted goal by Riley Henselder.  Jimmy Atkinson then tied the score at 2-2 off a pass from William McCumiskey, but the Knights ended the first quarter trailing 4-2.
  • Cole Bollin, McCumiskey, Brady Sullivan and Ronnie Trebing all found the back of the net during the second, with assists coming from Henselder and Kevin Mouton. Trebing's goal cut the deficit to just one goal at 7-6 with 5:38 left to play in the half, but Middlebury ended strong with four unanswered goals.
  • Bollin opened the third period with a goal after being set up beautifully by Atkinson. McCumiskey notched his second goal at 4:06 in the third to cut the lead back down to four goals, but the Panthers once again had the final say before the quarter ended.
  • Geneseo headed into the final quarter down 13-8 and despite two more goals from Sullivan and Atkinson, the Knights couldn't overcome the deficit, ending the game and their season with a 17-10 loss. 
 
QUICK FACTS:
  • Sullivan, McCumiskey, Atkinson and Bollin all had two goals each. Atkinson ends the season with a team-high 69 points on 52 goals and 17 assists.
  • Henselder lead the team in points, tallying one goal and three assists, moving him to second on the team this season with 56 points on 30 goals and 26 assists.
  • Andrew Tittmann played all 60 minutes in goal and tallied 15 saves.
