Women's Tennis Concludes Regular Season Play At William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team concluded their regular season play at William Smith on Saturday afternoon, and fell by a score of 9-0. The Knights will turn their attention to the SUNYAC playoffs, where they will compete as the No. 3 seed.

The Knights kicked the match in doubles, where the team of Alex Galle and Samantha Rava highlighted the Knights action, picking up four games at second doubles. The duo of Natalie Pipes and Rory Tobin came up short at first doubles, 8-2, and Talia Wutz and Elena DeRiso fell at third doubles, 8-1.

In singles action, Pipes nearly completed a comeback in the second set at first singles but fell by a score of 6-2 7-5. Galle battled to a defeat of 7-5 6-3 at second singles, while Tobin dropped her match at third singles 6-3 6-4. Rava came up short at fourth singles 6-0 6-1, and Abigail Rockwood and Katie Kujawa couldn't pull out wins for the Knights at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

Geneseo will head to Binghamton for the SUNYAC playoffs on Friday, April 26 and they will take on Cortland in the semifinals.
