ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team came up short on the road Friday evening as they fell to the University of Rochester, 8-1. Geneseo moves to 8-5 overall on the season as they prepare for the SUNYAC tournament next weekend.
The highlight of the match came in doubles play for Geneseo, as the team of
Samantha Rava and
Alex Galle picked up an 8-4 win at second doubles.
Natalie Pipes and
Rory Tobin fell at first doubles, while
Abigail Rockwood and
Katie Kujawa paired up in third doubles.
In singles action, Rava put up a strong fight at fourth singles, but ultimately fell 7-5 6-4. Galle battled her way to a 6-3 6-3 defeat at second singles, while Tobin fell 6-2 6-1 at third. Rockwood picked up a pair of games at fifth singles, while Pipes and Kujawa took on tough competition at first and sixth singles, respectively.
The Knights return to the court tomorrow, when they travel to William Smith for a 12 p.m. start.
