ORLANDO, F.L. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team concluded their spring break trip to Florida on Thursday morning, defeating Illinois Wesleyan 8-1. The Knights move to 8-4 overall on the season.
In doubles action, the Knights jumped ahead 2-1 with wins at second and third doubles.
Natalie Pipes and
Samantha Rava earned the win at second doubles, 8-4, while
Talia Wutz and
Elena DeRiso won at third doubles, 8-3.
Geneseo was dominant in singles action, sweeping all six matches.
Alex Galle picked up the win at first singles, 6-0 6-1, while
Rory Tobin earned a hard fought win at second singles, 6-4 6-3. Rava won at third singles 6-2 6-0, while Rockwood cruised at fourth singles 6-2 6-2. Wutz rolled to a 6-0 6-0 win at sixth singles, while Kujawa fought for a third-set super tiebreak victory at fifth singles (4-6 6-0 10-3).
The Knights will return to New York and have some time off before heading to the New Paltz tournament on April 13.
