Ice Knights Take Down Chatham in First UCHC Game

PITTSBURGH, PA- The Geneseo Ice Knights took down the Chatham Cougars in their first conference match of the season 5-1. The team now improves to 2-0-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Knights came out hot in the first period, going up 3-0 in the first 20 minutes. Tommy Winn struck first at 3:28 from the blue, with the assist from Sean Melso. Three minutes later, Stefan Miklakos scored the second goal of the night, who was assisted by Tommy Winn and Jack McDonald. Geneseo finished strong with a power-play goal from Filip Wiberg, who stuck it in past the blue line. Alex Dameski and Like Panchisin were on the assist.  

  • Geneseo and Chatham were both scoreless in the second period but not without great opportunities. Adam Harris came up big in net, making 11 saves to keep the Cougars at zero.  

  • Chatham opened the third with their first goal of the night just 13 seconds into the period.  

  • Geneseo answered back not even two minutes later to make the score 4-1. Sterling Wolters broke up the play in Geneseo end and passed to Jack McDonald at the blue. He fed Miklakos who took it down the ice and found the back of the net. Alex Dameski found Peter Morgan finished the game with an empty-netter, making the final score of the game 5-1.  

QUICK FACTS: 

  • Stefan Miklakos lead the team with two goals. 
  • Adam Harris earned the win in goal, tallying 34 saves.
  • This is the first time Geneseo has ever faced Chatham.

Geneseo will remain in Pittsburgh to take on Chatham tomorrow at 4 p.m.
