Morgan Nets OT Goal to Top Amherst; Knights Remain Undefeated

GENESEO, NY- The Geneseo Men's Hockey team took down the Amherst Mammoths in a thrilling 3-2 OT win. Peter Morgan scored the game-winning goal to keep the Knights undefeated.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Amherst went up in the first, taking advantage of Geneseo's reserved start to the game.

  • Filip Wiberg tied the game two minutes into the second period. Dakota Zarudny snagged the puck out of the air and found Wiberg at the blue line, who fired it past the goalie bottom left.

  • The Knights took the lead with three minutes left in the second on a power-play goal by Zach Purcell. Sean Melso carried the puck from behind our net and had a perfect pass to Purcell who hit home and brought the score to 2-1.

  • The Knights held strong in the third, but an unlucky breakaway by Amherst tied the game at 2-2 wand the teams headed into overtime.

  • In OT, Geneseo continued to control the game with smart movements and cycling the puck well. Zarudny carried the puck behind Amherst net and connected with Peter Morgan in front, who found the back of the net and secured the Knights eight consecutive win of the season.
