SPRINGFIELD, M.A. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team capped off their weekend at the Western New England Tournament with a convincing 90-61 win over Saint Joseph on Sunday afternoon. The victory improves the Knights record to 3-3 on the season, while the Blue Jays fall to 1-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kiley Snow got the Knights off to a hot start offensively, draining a pair of threes in the first five minutes. Audrey Hintz went on to give Geneseo its first lead of the game with a put-back layup at 12-11, then Snow and Maggie McGrane capped off the strong first quarter with back-to-back baskets in the final minute of action to put the Knights ahead 24-19 at the quarter break.
- Geneseo quickly extended its lead to seven in the second quarter, but the Blue Jays slowly chipped away at the lead and managed to enter halftime only down one point at 42-41.
- The Knights didn't let Saint Joseph carry any momentum into the second half, dominating the action from the start en route to winning the half by a total score of 48-20. Eva Elliot, Snow, and McGrane highlighted the third quarter by draining three conesecutive three point shots to push the lead to 15 points at 64-49.
- Hintz and Kristin Suydam helped keep the pressure on to start the fourth quarter, as the duo combined to score the first 10 points of the quarter for Geneseo. The Knights continued to hold any comeback attempts at bay and cruised to the 90-61 victory.
QUICK FACTS:
- Geneseo had five players record double digit points in the game: Hintz (15), Snow (14), Suydam (14), Elliot (12), Grace Galgano (12).
- Mackenzie Reigle chipped in 10 assists and seven rebounds for Geneseo, while Suydam nearly had a double-double with a team-high nine rebounds.
- The Knights dominant second half was led by shooting 59.4 percent from the field, while defensively they held Saint Joseph to a shooting percentage of 17.6.

Geneseo will enjoy some time off before heading to Hamilton for a 6 p.m. tip-off on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
