Men's Soccer Fall In Quarterfinals

GENESEO, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo Men's Soccer Team fell 1-1 with Hartwick winning 6-5 in penalty kicks in the Empire 8 Quarterfinals. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior midfielder Stefen Nikolic blasted the ball off the crossbar in the 9th minute. First-year forward Carraig Jones put in the rebound to take an early lead. 
  • The teams went back and forth in the first half and the Knights took a 1-0 lead into halftime. 
  • Hartwick equalized in the 64th minute. 
  • The Knights generated the last four shots of regulation including a shot from Nikolic in the 89th minute that was denied by the goalkeeper. 
  • Hartwick outshot Geneseo 5-1 in overtime but no team found a winner. 
  • Geneseo lost 6-5 in penalty kicks. 
QUICK FACTS:
  • Senior goalkeeper Vincent Maronski Jr. started in the net for the Knights and recorded four saves. 
  • Each team had 12 total shots with six of Geneseo's being on target. 
  • Hartwick had 6 corners compared to two by Geneseo.
