GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team hosted William Smith on Tuesday, Nov. 19, and earned a convincing 67-51 win. The victory improves the Knights to 3-2 on the season, while the Herons fall to 0-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights came out hot, jumping ahead 7-0 behind four points from Grace Galgano and a three-point shot from Kiley Snow. William Smith was able to bounce back from the slow start and cut the lead to 9-5 later in the quarter, but Geneseo finished strong and went to the second quarter with a 20-8 advantage.
- Zephyr Connolly quickly helped the Knights extend their lead to 25-10 after draining a three, but once again the Herons battled back and cut into the lead, making it 29-20 with just under four mintues left before halftime.
- Geneseo's defense stepped up in the closing minutes of the quarter, holding the Herons scoreless for the final 3:30 of the half. The strong end to the second quarter gave the Knights a 39-20 advantage heading to the second half.
- The Knights were able to maintain a strong advantage throughout the second half, leading by 20 points after three quarters and eventually earning the 67-51 win.
QUICK FACTS:
- Kristin Suydam led the Knights offense with 16 points, while Snow chipped in 15 of her own.
- Galgano dominated the boards for Geneseo with a game-high 14, while Reigle dished out a game-high eight assists.
- Geneseo has now won the last seven match-ups against William Smith, but the Herons hold the all-time advantage over the Knights at 14-12.

Geneseo will head to Western New England this weekend for a tournament, where they will face Wesleyan in the opener on Saturday, Nov. 23.
