TROY, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team fell to top seeded Hartwick in the Empire 8 Championship match on Saturday afternoon, 5-0. This marks the second-straight season for the Knights reaching their conference championship match, after falling in last years SUNYAC final to New Paltz.
The Knights were unable to pull out a doubles match and entered singles play down 3-0.
Samantha Rava and
Rachel Molloy fell at first doubles, 8-4.
Natalie Pipes and
Joann Catalano teamed up at second doubles and fell by a score of 8-2, while
Katie Kujawa and
Talia Wutz played third doubles and also tallied a score of 8-2.
In singles action, Wutz and Molloy couldn't earn the win at third and fourth singles, respectively, and Hartwick was able to seal the victory, 5-0. Pipes and Rava had both won the first set at first and second singles, but were unable to finish their matches before the Hawks picked up the fifth point.
The Knights will close out their fall semester on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at RIT at 4 p.m.
