Geneseo Hockey Wins Big Against Potsdam

Geneseo, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo men's hockey team bounced back at home against SUNY Potsdam on Saturday night. Adam Harris's 34-save performance helped the Ice Knights improve to (16-4-0) on the season and (9-2-0) in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Ice Knights struck first halfway through the first period on the powerplay. Sophomore forward Alex Dameski converted a wrist shot on a cross-ice pass from Luke Panchisin. Alex Wilkins with the secondary assist on the play.
  • Senior forward Zach Rehbaum scored on a silky move around the goalie 11:40 into the first period. Carter Diceman and Sterling Wolters with assists on the play.
  • Not even a minute later, Geneseo added their third goal of the period. At 11:55 into the first period, Luke Panchisin found Zach Purcell on a clever cross-crease pass. Jared Thomas added an assist on the breakout pass.
  • Potsdam scored 44 seconds into the second period.
  • Graduate Student Alex Wilkins sniped in a wrist shot from the top of the point to extend the Ice Knights' lead 12:01 into the third period. Luke Panchisin added another assist on the goal.
  • Geneseo took full advantage of a 5-minute penalty called on Potsdam. Zach Purcell scored his second of the night on a pass from Jared Thomas. Stefan Miklos added an assist.
  • The Ice Knights scored again on the powerplay to extend their lead to five. Andrew Bruno slapped home a one-timer on a pass from Tommy Winn. Zach Rehbaum with the secondary assist.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Junior goaltender Adam Harris picked up his 11th win of the season while recording 34 saves on 35 shots on goal.
  • Junior forward Zach Purcell recorded his first multi-goal game of the season, moving his season total to five.
  • The Geneseo Ice Knights have now won the last eight consecutive match-ups against the Potsdam Bears.

Geneseo (16-4-0) will continue with their conference schedule as they travel to take on SUNY Cortland (12-6-2) on Friday, February 2nd, with a 7 PM puck drop.
