Dameski's Hat Trick Leads Ice Knights to 8-2 Win

Brockport NY-  The No. 2 Geneseo Men's Ice Hockey Team were on the road to Brockport tonight, facing off against the Golden Eagles for the second time this season. The Knights finished the game winning 8-2 against Brockport, putting them at 15-2-0 on the season and 8-1-0 in SUNYAC play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED-
  • Geneseo started out strong, making their presence known early on in this game. Alex Dameski tallied his tenth goal this season at 9:58. With him on the play were Peter Morgan and Dakota Zarudny.
  • At 17:37, Luke Panchisin sent a gorgeous pass across the ice to Tyson Gilmour, who had took the shot to score the second goal of the game.
  • Thirty second later, Dameski notched his second goal of the night at 18:09, assisted by Morgan. 
  • In the second, Geneseo struck again, netting their fourth goal of the night. Scoring his third of the season, Andrew Bruno beat the goalie after great passes from teammates Alex Wilkins and Dakota Zarudny
  • Halfway through the second, junior Teddy Purcell notched the fifth goal of the night, shooting from the goal line right past the goalie's shoulder. Camron Cervone and Mitch Machlitt are credited with the assist.
  • The Ice Knights struck again 20 seconds later, with Dameski scoring again, landing him his first career hat trick. Morgan had a beautiful pass across the ice to help him seal the deal. Tommy Winn is also credited with an assist. 
  • With six second left, Cooper Fensterstock tallied his first of the night, with assists from Mitch Machlitt and Sean Melso.
  • At 13:35, Geneseo found the back of the net yet again. Bruno attained his second goal of the night with help from Camron Cervone and Zach Rehbaum.
 
QUICK FACTS-
  • Freshman Goaltender Jacob Torgner notched his eight win of the season after beating Brockport with 31 saves on the night. He leads the SUNYAC in both GAA and SV%.
  • Alex Dameski scored his first career hat trick against the Golden Eagles.
  • The Knight are now 29-6-2 against the Golden Eagles, winning the last 16 in a row.
