ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team traveled to RIT on Wednesday afternoon and played a hard fought match against the Tigers, but ultimately fell 5-4.
In doubles action,
Katie Kujawa and
Abigail Rockwood picked up a clutch point for the Knights at third doubles with a 8-6 victory. At first doubles,
Alex Galle and
Natalie Pipes fell 8-3.
Rory Tobin and
Samantha Rava played second doubles and came up short with a score of 8-3 as well.
In singles action, Tobin cruised to a 6-0 6-3 win at third singles, while her doubles partner Rava won in dominant fashion, 6-1 6-0, at fourth singles. Kujawa added the final point for Geneseo at sixth singles with a score of 6-4 6-2. Pipes fell at the top of the lineup, 6-1 6-2, and Galle played in a closely contested match at second singles, but couldn't pull out the win and fell 7-6 (1) 7-5. At fifth singles, Abby Rockwood came up short with with a score of 7-6 (4) 6-1.
The Knights will play their home opener on Friday at 4 p.m. against St. John Fisher.
