GENEVA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team competed at the Mary Hosking Invitational at William Smith on Saturday and Sunday.
Natalie Pipes and
Alex Galle competed in Flight A singles, and both fell to opponents from the University of Rochester 8-4 and 8-3, respectively. In Flight B singles,
Samantha Rava took on RIT and came up close with an 8-4 defeat while
Rory Tobin dropped an 8-2 decision. In Flight C singles, both
Abigail Rockwood and
Katie Kujawa came up short with scores of 8-3.
Elena DeRiso and
Talia Wutz fell 8-3 and 8-0, respectively, in Flight D.
Geneseo picked up a win in Flight A singles, as Galle and Pipes teamed up to beat Nazareth 8-4 and advance to the quarterfinals before falling to Ithaca. Tobin and Rava played together in Flight A as well and lost 8-0 to Saint Lawrence. In Flight B doubles, the teams of Rockwood and Kujawa, and Wutz and DeRiso were unable to advance to the quarterfinal round.
