ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team traveled to Nazareth for their season opening match on Friday afternoon and pulled out a 9-0 sweep.
The duo of
Natalie Pipes and
Alex Galle earned a hard-fought 8-6 victory at first doubles, while
Rory Tobin and
Samantha Rava earned an 8-1 win at second and
Abigail Rockwood and
Katie Kujawa rolled to an 8-0 victory at third doubles.
The Knights dominance continued into singles play, with none of the Knights dropping a set. Pipes took the top flight 6-4 6-1, Galle took a 6-3 6-1 victory, and Tobin nabbed the third singles point 6-1 6-0. Rava also got a big win for Geneseo with a clean sweep of 6-0 6-0 at fourth singles. Rockwood and Kujawa rounded out the 9-0 victory for Geneseo at fifth and sixth singles.
The Knights will return to action tomorrow at the William Smith Tournament.
