Geneseo, N.Y.- The No.7 SUNY Geneseo men's hockey team cruised to a 5-0 home victory against the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs to secure a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) win. The Ice Knights improved to 13-2-0 overall and 7-1-0 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED-

• First-year Geneseo forward Sean Melso opened the scoring 8:18 into the first period. Melso picked off a pass at the midline, took the puck to the net, juked out the goaltender, and buried it.
• Three minutes after the first goal, Teddy Purcell took a one-timer slapshot that added to the lead. The Ice Knights kept the puck in the Mustang's zone after the faceoff and Dakota Zarudny found Purcell for the goal. Alex Wilkins with the secondary assist on the play.
• Junior forward Andrew Bruno pilled another goal onto the lead with 6:58 left in the first period. Bruno received the puck right in front of the Morrisville net and placed it into the top corner. First-year Luke Panchisin added to his high season point total by adding an assist on the play.
• With a commanding 3-0 lead after the first period, Junior forward Cooper Fensterstock scored his fifth goal of the season with 4:22 left in the second. Luke Panchisin passed the puck to Mitch Machlitt who passed the puck across the net to Fensterstock for a one-timed finish.
• Senior forward Zach Rehbaum finished off the Mustangs with a rebound goal 3:42 into the third period. Cannon Green with the assist on the play. 

 
QUICK FACTS-

• Junior goaltender Adam Harris started in net for the Ice Knights and recorded 26 saves to secure his first shutout of the season.
• SUNY Geneseo now has a program record of (29-4-1) in 34 match-ups against SUNY Morrisville.
• Geneseo players: Teddy Purcell, Zach Rehbaum, Sean Melso, and Andrew Bruno all scored their second goals of the season during Saturday night's victory.
