BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team returned to the court on Friday afternoon in Binghamton as they defeated Plattsburgh, 8-1. The victory improved the Knights record to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in SUNYAC play.
Geneseo left doubles play with a 2-1 lead as the first doubles team ofÂ
Natalie Pipes and
Rory Tobin earned an 8-3 victory at first doubles, and then
Alex Galle and
Samantha Rava kept the strong play going at second doubles with an 8-2 win.Â
The Knights sealed the win by sweeping all six singles matches. Pipes and Tobin earned victories at first and second singles with scores of 6-2 6-3 and 6-0 6-0, respectively. Galle and Rava then cruised to 6-1 6-0 and 6-0 6-0 wins at third and fourth singles, respectively.
Abigail Rockwood picked up a 6-0 6-2 win at fifth singles and
Katie Kujawa earned a 6-3 6-0 victory at sixth singles.
Geneseo will return to action tomorrow for their final match of the weekend against Oneonta at 3 p.m.
