BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team concluded regular season SUNYAC play on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Oneonta 7-2. The win improved the Knights record to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play, good enough to lock up a playoff spot for the spring.
Geneseo opened up the match with a 2-1 lead after doubles action.
Natalie Pipes and
Rory Tobin picked up an 8-3 win at first doubles, while
Alex Galle and
Samantha Rava cruised to an 8-1 win at second doubles.
In singles play, Pipes picked up a hard fought win at first with a score of 6-4 7-6. At sixth singles
Katie Kujawa also battled to a tiebreak victory, but in three sets with a score of 2-6 6-1 10-4.
Abigail Rockwood tallied a 6-4 6-4 victory at fifth singles, while Galle and Rava won at third and fourth with scores of 6-4 6-2 and 6-1 6-4, respectively.
Geneseo will return to the court on Monday Oct. 9 for their final match of the fall season. The Knights will host Penn St. Behrend at 4 p.m.
