Men's Soccer Tough Loss in SUNYAC Quarterfinals

Oneonta, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team had their season come to an end after falling 2-1 to SUNY Oneonta in the first round of the State University of New York Athletic Conference playoffs. The Knights finish the season with an overall record of 9-7-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED-
  • Geneseo midfielder Justin Arilotta recorded the first shot on target for the Knights in the ninth minute. The shot was low and saved by the Oneonta goalkeeper.
  • Knights forward Tyler Lewandowski had chances to score in both the 15th and 36th minutes, but both shots on target were saved by the goalkeeper.
  • Geneseo out-shot Oneonta seven to three in the first half, but the game went into halftime tied at zero.
  • The Red Dragons were awarded a penalty kick in the 56th minute. The kick was converted, giving Oneonta a one goal lead.
  • Oneonta doubled their lead in the 69th minute on a goal put away their forward, making the score 2-0 in favor of the Red Dragons.
  • The Knights attempted to mount a comeback in the 75th minute. Geneseo defender Jake Depaoli scored for Geneseo on a goal assisted by Eren Aydin. However, the game would end without another goal, making the final score Oneonta 2, Geneseo 1.
