Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Beats Potsdam On The Road, 2-0

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team traveled to Potsdam to take on the Bears on Saturday afternoon. The matchup resulted in a 2-0 victory for the Knights as their record now sits at 6-2-6 overall and 2-0-5 in SUNYAC play. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Geneseo's offense came out strong in the first half as they tallied 12 shots and two corner kicks in the first 45 minutes of action.
  • The Knights took the lead just past the halfway point in the first half as senior midfielder Lindsey Clar retook possession off of a Geneseo shot and put the ball in the back of the net.
  • After the half, the Knights offensive statistics saw a slight decline, but it didn't stop them from extending their lead to two in the 64th minute as senior forward Liv Raucci took two shots back-to-back with the second getting past the Bears' goalie.
  • Despite Potsdam putting up multiple shots in the final minutes, Geneseo's defense remained strong and cemented the shutout. 
  • Junior goalkeeper Mollie Collins played just over 80 minutes in goal and recorded two saves against the Bears.
QUICK FACTS
  • Raucci led the Knights with seven shots while midfielders Dana Schoeps (senior) and Lindsey Matthews (junior), and forward Abby Foster (sophomore) also recorded multiple shots in the matchup. 
  • Raucci, Matthews, and Foster each put multiple shots on-goal in the matchup, as well. 
  • Collins' two saves in the matchup brought her season total to 47 through 14 games.
WHAT'S NEXT 
The Knights will come home to face off against the Brockport Golden Eagles in another SUNYAC game on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m.
