GENESEO, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced on Monday afternoon that senior libero
Emily Haber earned Defensive Player of the Week for women's volleyball and senior forward
Tyler Lewandowski took home Offensive Player of the Week for men's soccer.
Haber was stellar for the Knights on the defensive end this week, registering 5.67 digs per set over three matches played. In a 3-0 win over Medaille, she put up 14 digs, and then capped off her week with an impressive performance on Saturday by tallying 25 and 29 digs against St. John Fisher and Heidelberg, respectively. In addition to her defensive efforts, she added 17 assists, seven service aces, and a .444 hitting percentage on four kills. Haber and the Knights will return to Schrader Gymnasium on Tuesday, September 13 for a 6 p.m. match against the University of Rochester.
Lewandowski powered Geneseo to a 2-1 win over RIT on Saturday as he recorded both goals for the Knights. The first goal for Lewandowski came in the first half when sophomore defender
Liam Mulholland earned possession with a stout tackle on the right flank and fed senior midfielder Jusin Arilotta in the middle of the field. Arilotta played an incisive through-ball ahead to Lewandowski who played a stellar first touch between two defenders, setting himself up for a clear shot that beat the keeper. In the second half, Lewandowski struck again, this time collecting a failed clearance and blasting a left-footed shot to the far post to make it 2-0 with 26 minutes to play.
