Box Score CORTLAND, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team outshot host Cortland, 41-20, but were shutout as the Red Dragons took a 2-0 decision on Friday night in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Geneseo outshot Cortland, 13-4, in the first period but could not convert on any of their scoring opportunities, skating to a 0-0 finish at the first intermission.
- In the second period, Cortland opened the scoring with a goal at the 12:24 mark.
- Geneseo poured on 21 shots in the third period, but the Red Dragons added another goal to their tally with just over 13:00 left to play. The Knights pulled the goalie for an extra attacker over the final two minutes but still could not generate a goal, falling 2-0.
QUICK FACTS
- Geneseo was shut out for the first time since Feb. 17, 2017, a 1-0 loss to Plattsburgh.
- Junior goalkeeper Matt Petizian made 20 saves while Cortland goaltender Luca Durante stopped all 41 of the Knights' shots.
